What Are the Differences Between PP Non-Woven Fabric and PET Non-Woven Fabric?

PP non-woven fabric and PET non-woven fabric each have unique properties and applications, with key differences reflected in the following aspects:

1. Physical and Chemical Properties

  • PP non-woven fabric (Polypropylene): It has low density, excellent chemical resistance (resistant to acids, alkalis, and solvents), as well as good thermal insulation and heat retention performance. With a relatively low melting point, it is suitable for hot-rolled bonding consolidation processing, and is widely used as a covering material for sanitary pads and diapers.

  • PET non-woven fabric (Polyethylene Terephthalate): It features high strength and hardness, good dimensional stability, and wear resistance. It also has excellent heat resistance, with a maximum

  • temperature resistance of approximately 230°C. Additionally, it is mothproof, wear-resistant, UV-resistant, and has good air permeability.

2. Applications

  • PP non-woven fabric: It is commonly used in the production of injection-molded products, films, pipes, sheets, fibers, coatings, etc. It also finds applications in fields such as household appliances, automobiles, chemical engineering, construction, and light industry.

  • PET non-woven fabric: Benefiting from its excellent physical and chemical properties, it is often used to make products that require high durability and transparency, such as food storage boxes.

3. Performance Comparison

  • PP non-woven fabric: It performs well in terms of chemical resistance and electrical insulation, but has poor stress cracking resistance and insufficient impact strength at low temperatures.

  • PET non-woven fabric: It outperforms PP non-woven fabric in stability, heat resistance, and anti-aging cycle. Moreover, it has good air permeability and is non-absorbent.

In summary, the choice between PP non-woven fabric and PET non-woven fabric depends on specific application requirements. If lightweight, good chemical stability, and electrical insulation are needed, PP non-woven fabric is a better option; while for applications requiring high durability, heat resistance, and transparency, PET non-woven fabric is more suitable.
